MIDDLE EAST INSTITUTE MUSICAL PERFORMANCE

Beginning with a visual art exhibition, literature festival and musical performance, Abu Dhabi Festival is partnering with the Middle East Institute in an innovative and ongoing collaboration to strengthen US-UAE cultural ties. In 2022, this diverse range of activities includes a performance by virtuoso composer and clarinetist Kinan Azmeh, who won a Grammy in 2016 as a member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble. Azmeh will perform with his quartet, the Kinan Azmeh CityBand, known for creating spellbinding music by blending classical and jazz with the sounds of Azmeh’s Syrian homeland. The concert in the U.S. capital will be followed by an audience discussion about Azmeh’s musical influences and experiences.
