ABOUT
Riwaq Al Adab Wal Kitab aims to strengthen and support the Emirati publishing industry by presenting the achievements of Emirati and Arab writers. The initiative seeks to foster creativity among local writers and to preserve and celebrate the beauty of the Arabic language in literature and its role as a key element of national identity.
2022 Publications
This year, in collaboration with local publishing houses Dar Nabati, Hamaleel and Emirates Writers Union the programme launched 14 books to be presented at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.

2022 PROGRAMME
In 2022, the programme returns for its seventh edition at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair from 23 to 29 May 2022. in addition to introducing the literary works of 13 Emirati and regional writers, as well as a group collaboration between 10 influential literary critics reflecting on the works of the late great Emirati poet Ahmed Rashid Thani—one of the most prominent pioneers of the Emirati prose poem—ADMAF’S Abu Dhabi Festival will present a cultural programme entitled “Poems Do Not Die”, in honour of the legendary poet on the tenth anniversary of his passing, which will feature a number of exciting activities including panel talks featuring distinguished writers from the UAE and Arab word, book signings and creative writing workshops.

The talk will give an in-depth look into experiences of the following Emirati authors whose books were launched through the Riwaq Al Adab Wal Kitab initiative: “From the Morning Flood” by writer Laila Mohammad Ali Muhammad Al Farsi, and “But They Are Gone” by writer Afnan Mohammad Al Hammadi.

The Fundamentals of Creative Writing

The workshop aims to introduce literary doctrines and their characteristics, forms of creative expression, and the various techniques used to produce literary work including the short—and very short—story, narratives, poems and more. The workshop also seeks to raise awareness about the beauty of the Arabic language and the importance of self-expression through writing.
